Limber up that throwing arm
There comes a time in every man’s life where he is called to make a podcast. Luckily, I got two of the funniest people alive to help me out, and in 2020, Grab The Tomatoes was born. I serve as a producer, editor, copywriter, designer (and co-host) of the culture & comedy podcast.
The Visuals
The podcast’s visual direction needed to represent the topics and themes of the show. Each episode was irreverent, bold, vivid, and rough around the edges. I chose to show this through bright colors, harsh lines, gritty imagery, and larger-than-life iconography that would immediately pique interest.

The Copy
In writing the descriptions for each episode, it felt important to establish a clear voice for the show. They needed to be simple and informative, while also matching the podcast’s chaotic tone, so readers knew exactly what to expect.
Episode 3:
#UniversityofMiamiIsOverParty
In our first episode recorded on empty stomachs, we hold nothing back. Our three recently-graduated hosts discuss the good, the bad, and the moldy of their experience at the University of Miami. From socialism at college parties to horrible dorms, dining hall disasters to RA nightmares, this one is a rollercoaster. If you're an alumni, thinking of attending, or just someone who keeps up with University of Miami's many scandals, you won't wanna miss this episode.
Episode 4:
Jussie Smollett vs. Subway Salads
This episode, we ask ourselves over and over, "What the hell is up with that?" In our first attempt at a crime podcast, we dissect the Jussie Smollett case and question his obsession with late-night trips to Subway. We also discuss the surplus in recent clownery, including Kim and Kanye's alleged divorce, Miya "SoHo Karen" Ponsetto, and Demi Lovato's threat against democracy. The tomato stand better restock, because the demand is higher than ever.
Episode 9:
Clown Cuisine
Time to chow down, clowns...it's the food episode! We asked for your unpopular food opinions, and boy did we get them. After discussing our interest in warm banana pudding and pinky meat tacos, we get into some hot takes. Bubbly milk, raisin breakfast, soggy cereal, and unidentifiable tuna fish are on the menu tonight. This one is NOT for weak stomachs. Then, one listener's submission leaves us so speechless, we had to let a Clown Call do all the talking. Take a bite into this episode, you won't regret it.
The Promo
We promoted the podcast through one-minute long clips on Instagram and Twitter. These were designed and edited to be fast-paced and grab people’s attention with some of the best moments from each episode.
